Use the "Ice Rod Cancel" to get a huge head start

  1. As soon as the in-game timer starts, shoot an ice beam to cancel the opening camera pan. Immediately begin running toward the first Overworld save.
  2. The camera will pan up to meet you about halfway to the save point. Save at the Overworld save.
There's no big trick to this—it just takes practice! You will likely get stuck on geometry off-camera a lot, it's okay!
